Hang Linton – DRIFTERS lullaby
The day starts badly: an alarm going off in the dark, cereal sitting in milk that’s already turned. Hang Linton builds “DRIFTERS lullaby” out of small, tired details like that. Then it widens out to a young Black man told he has to graft twice as hard for what he wants, eating properly at last, and paying for it in lost sleep. This breaks his back on the hope that something grows. The verses talk themselves in circles until the truth comes out, and the chorus turns all that weight into something shared: worn out, still going, pulling each other up. He wrote it for anyone stuck in their head, short on words for how they feel or on kindness for themselves. the TOWER (W34) aimed its anger up at the people in charge. “DRIFTERS lullaby” turns it inward and finds more fight than fury.
