Aesop Rock x Blockhead – Coyote Summer (feat. Hanni El Khatib)

Blockhead keeps the drums plain and loud on “Coyote Summer”, a lean boom-bap frame. Aesop Rock crams it with his usual crowded picture book: a full lunch order recited item by item at noon sharp, losing tickets traded for more losing tickets, dogs straining at the end of their leads, danger and nonsense in the same breath, delivered dead calm. Hanni El Khatib, a long-time collaborator, carries the hook, and it’s the simplest idea in the song: get out of the house, but only when the moment’s right. Evan Gütt’s video puts Aesop on holiday and still never quite shows his face. It’s the second single from “Trouble Mountain”, out November 13 on Rhymesayers Entertainment.
