Dahi – How To Pray (ft. Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark)
Watch “How To Pray” on two phones side-by-side and you will see the entire video. Dahi has created two vertically divided sections, each section is shot at a different angle and are designed to be viewed together, not separately.
“How To Pray” is part of Black Boy (Alternative) , Dahi’s first solo record in over ten years as an artist producing music for other artists: “Money Trees” for Kendrick Lamar and credits on several albums including Damn. and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers; plus production work for artists such as Drake, SZA, 21 Savage and Travis Scott. The eleven track album features Dahi’s take on Hip Hop/R&B that he grew up listening to and Alternative/ Rock Music that he was always interested in creating. He describes this style as “Black Radiohead”.
The way Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark work together on vocals is different from how they would if they were trading verses. This song is produced with guitars and deals with building trust and feeling vulnerable, rather than dealing with what you could think of as traditional rap verses. It is the second time this album will have been given the two video, one screen treatment. Earlier this month (July), “Find Me” was released in the same format as well, with both Moses Sumney and Mez.
