Penelope Isles – Another Kind Of Love
“Another Kind Of Love” is the third single off of what that time away eventually developed into, “3,” the first album by the Brighton-based siblings, as a three-piece, released on Sept. 25 via Bella Union. The new single followed lead single Thinking Seat (W24) and second single “I Loved You, Robert Pattinson”.
Unlike “Thinking Seat,” which rode a wave of nervous energy, “Another Kind Of Love” sits back. Shimmering guitars and soft layered harmonies provide the song with a gentle or weightless surface; however, beneath the surface the song continues to be more restless than it appears: the lyrics explore a type of love that cannot be contained within the frameworks that society provides for romance, allowing both uncertainty and attraction to exist together.
The video extends that same idea into a different medium: Jack paints an eight-foot-by-eight-foot acrylic canvas in a single continuous take, the image building alongside the song rather than illustrating it after the fact.
