Lael Neale – Tell Me How To Be Here

Lael Neale’s Tell Me How to Be Here is a spectral, slow-burning meditation on alienation and belonging, serving as the emotional core of her upcoming album, Altogether Stranger.

Neale’s minimalist drone-pop aesthetic remains intact, but Tell Me How to Be Here expands on it, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that echoes the Velvet Underground’s more reflective moments.

Set for release on May 2 via Sub Pop, Altogether Stranger continues Neale’s evolution from the lo-fi charm of Acquainted With Night to the more electrified textures of Star Eaters Delight. This time, her work oscillates between the solitude of rural life and the chaos of the city, navigating the tension between wanting to belong and feeling utterly foreign.
