Hemlock Ernst & Icky reels – Old Dead Dogs, (Feat. Fatboi Sharif & Beans)

Hemlock Ernst, Future Islands’ Sam Herring’s rap alter-ego, is set to release “Studying Absence” on October 16 via Tygr Rawwk Rcrds. Produced by Icky Reels, the album came about after Herring’s feature on Beans’ “Venga” album. Beans suggested a full project with Icky, pushing Herring to challenge himself. The result is a dense, cerebral work that allowed Herring to explore new and uncover long-buried memories. The latest single, “Old Dead Dogs,” features Fatboi Sharif and Beans, offering a woozy, experimental indie-rap sound. Herring describes it as his most challenging record yet, breaking new ground at 40.
