Yannis & The Yaw – Clementine

Yannis & The Yaw – Clementine

Yannis Philippakis, known for fronting Foals, is set to release his solo EP “Lagos Paris London” on August 30, 2024, under the moniker Yannis & The Yaw. The project’s final pre-release single, “Clementine,” recently debuted on BBC Radio 1’s New Music Show.

The EP is a collaboration with the late Nigerian-French drummer Tony Allen, though “Clementine” is the only track without Allen’s contribution. Philippakis explained that the song emerged during a Paris winter session, inspired by a longing for summer.

Philippakis fondly recalled working with Allen, describing the experience as connecting across generations and cultures. He expressed awe at collaborating with a musical hero and creating something special together.

Sadly, Tony Allen passed away at 79 in Paris before the EP’s release, making this project a poignant tribute to his legacy.
