Ada Lea – something in the wind
Ada Lea transforms dream logic into sonic reality with ‘something in the wind’, the second single from her forthcoming album ‘when i paint my masterpiece’, arriving August 8th via Saddle Creek. Montreal’s Alexandra Levy continues her kaleidoscopic exploration of artistic transformation, crafting a meditation on love that emerged from a forgotten dream with only its emotional residue intact.
The track showcases Levy’s gift for blurring intimacy and abstraction through gently layered instrumentation and weightless vocals. Producer Luke Temple’s decision to slow the recording for drummer Tasy Hudson’s improvised solo and then speed it back up creates what Levy calls “a slowed-down wink to Leonard Cohen himself.”.
Levy embarked on what she describes as a “quiet revolution”, returning to school for painting and poetry, teaching songwriting at Concordia University, and co-facilitating community workshops.
The accompanying video finds Levy figure skating after six months of training, inspired by Nathan Fielder’s “miracle over the mojave” performance.
