OneDa – Superwoman

OneDa – Superwoman

Seamlessly blending old-school and new-school vibes, OneDa resurrects hip-hop and takes listeners on an energy-filled journey where dreams come true and nightmares are confronted. Her rapid rise in Manchester’s music scene over the past two years culminates in the release of her debut album, ‘Formula OneDa’, on October 4th. Ahead of the album, she releases her third single, ‘Superwoman’, on June 24th through Heavenly Recordings.

‘Superwoman’ showcases OneDa’s prowess with its rolling drum n bass rhythm and anthemic air horns. This track, a testament to self-transformation and empowerment, follows her acclaimed singles ‘Major Pay’ and ‘Set It Off’, setting high expectations for the 12-track album.

Reflecting on the single, OneDa describes it as a narrative of metamorphosis: “The transformation of a young kid from a council estate into a being unrecognizable to her past self, all catalyzed by one strong conversation with myself.” Her concept of ‘Pussy Power’—embracing one’s true self unapologetically—permeates both the single and the album, highlighted by the infectious breakbeat and empowering refrain, “Now I’m powered up.”

The album’s ethos is inspired by the F1 Academy, mirroring her journey from a backmarker to a leader, much like the women making strides in the male-dominated racing circuit. This metaphor fits her evolution from obscurity to a leading voice in music, embracing her role as a trailblazer.

OneDa’s sound is a vibrant mix of hip-hop, drum n bass, afro-trap, and afrobeats, reflecting her Nigerian heritage. With her signature Mancunian drawl and a message of empowerment, she continues to break boundaries and inspire others.

Her debut album ‘Formula OneDa’ promises to be a masterful blend of genres and powerful storytelling, released on Heavenly Recordings.
