Common – Dreamin’

Common – Dreamin’

Common and Pete Rock are set to release their highly anticipated album, THE AUDITORIUM, VOL. 1, on July 12, 2024. Their latest single, “Dreamin’,” perfectly encapsulates the nostalgic essence of hip-hop’s golden age, paying tribute to legendary influences through Common’s insightful verses and Pete Rock’s masterful production.

“Dreamin'” samples Aretha Franklin’s “Day Dreaming,” infusing the track with soulful brass elements that elevate its nostalgic feel. The music video, with its brass-golden set and vibrant lighting, further enhances this homage to hip-hop’s past.

Common’s collaboration with Pete Rock is a dream come true, bringing him back to the roots of his love for hip-hop. As he shares, working with Pete Rock and being surrounded by his records and MPC rekindled the spirit of hip-hop and soul music that first inspired him to become an MC. The result is a track that feels both anachronistic and timeless, capturing the essence of what makes hip-hop a beloved art form.

THE AUDITORIUM, VOL. 1 will also feature guest appearances from Jennifer Hudson, Bilal, PJ, and De La Soul’s Posdnuos. This release follows their previous single “Wise Up,” and promises to deliver a thematic consistency that honors the golden age of hip-hop.
