QUINQUIS – Lena

Slow-moving synths give way to distant voices on “Lena”, and the track builds through layers. It’s the first piece to surface from QUINQUIS’ score for “Scènes d’intérieur”, Mélanie Leray’s stage production riffing on Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House”.

Patient to a fault, holding on the same low pulse until the silence itself starts to feel like the point. The full five-track soundtrack, recorded on Ushant Island off the coast of Brittany where Quinquis lives, is out 13 November on Mute and includes a collaboration with labelmate Desiré Marea. Rare for a theatre score to hold up this well outside the theatre.
