Classic Trucks – Masculine Jazz
Classic Trucks is the solo project of Joshua Jarman, drummer and vocalist in Bristol’s Langkamer. We covered “Born Naked” (W14) earlier this year — a track he built after buying a guitar on Gumtree for £10 and spending two years teaching himself to play it. “Masculine Jazz” follows that, and arrives in the wake of last year’s sophomore EP Clown Town on Breakfast Records, a tight collection of songs about capitalism, greed, love, and nature, most clocking under two minutes.
That economy carries through here. Jarman isn’t interested in padding things out, and “Masculine Jazz” is no exception. I find myself going back to this one more than I expected to. The project keeps moving in interesting directions.
