runo plum – Halfway Up The Lawn
runo plum’s “Halfway Up The Lawn” captures that particular kind of post-breakup madness we don’t often admit to. She’s checking socials, waiting for texts, imagining herself sitting outside an ex’s house, basically doing everything we’ve all done but pretending we haven’t.
Built around a driving, melancholic melody, the track deals with the chaos of unhealthy relationships and the slow acceptance that someone has moved on. runo plum kept her demo guitar solo, calling it “sort of a mess” that perfectly matched the song’s chaotic theme.
“Halfway Up The Lawn” previews her debut album “patching”, due November 14th via Winspear. After years of bedroom recordings and touring with Angel Olsen, she’s ready to share more complex folk songs that don’t shy away from difficult emotions.
I don’t wanna watch you turn green, but I will” sums up the song’s painful acceptance – we’ll watch people move on even when it hurts.
