YUUF – Mesa Mesa
YUUF swaps coastal tranquillity for desert heat on “Mesa Mesa,” the lead single from their upcoming EP Mt. Sava. The quartet shifts settings from their previous lush soundscapes to capture the harsh beauty of mountainous desert terrain, where scorching sun meets endless sand.
The band describes the new direction as exploring both “the serenity of a night sky filled with stars far removed from human life and the brutality and fierceness of life in the desert.” That contrast comes through in the music, moments of spacious calm punctuated by more intense passages that mirror the environment’s dual nature.
Mt. Sava drops October 29 through Technicolour Records, continuing YUUF’s relationship with the Ninja Tune subsidiary. The video for “Mesa Mesa” incorporates fan-submitted footage of sunrises and sunsets, edited by Elliot Seeds into a visual companion that matches the song’s desert atmosphere.
YUUF embarks on their first major tour this fall, hitting festivals and intimate venues across Europe and North America. The four-piece – Andrin, Anthony, Hugo, and Oli – kick off in Athens before making stops at Wild Paths Festival in Norwich and JazzMI in Milano. Their November North American leg includes shows in Toronto, Denver, New York, and both coasts.
