Chicago’s Case Oats makes a striking entrance with “Seventeen,” their debut single on Merge Records. The track serves as the perfect introduction—thoughtful yet playful, with production that gently steps away from their country-rock foundations.

“When you’re 17, everything feels like the most important thing in the world, including yourself,” explains Walker. “And when you grow up in a small town [Eureka, Missouri], it’s even harder to see the horizon. Every emotion feels bigger. This is a song about overcoming those emotions.”

The band has recently signed to Merge Records, with a debut album expected later this year.
