Emma Jean Thackray – Black Hole feat Reggie Watts

Emma-Jean Thackray returns to the music scene after three years with “Black Hole”, featuring the talented Reggie Watts. The track, released via Brownswood Recordings and Parlophone Records, marks her first release since the 2021 album “Yellow”.

This self-produced piece showcases Thackray’s musical depth, bringing together elements of jazz, pop, soul, and P-funk. She handled every aspect of production – from writing and arranging to mixing – in her studio, with Watts adding his distinctive touch to the final composition.

The song explores themes of personal struggle and finding light in the darkness. As Thackray explains, “Sometimes life feels like an inescapable black hole […] In dark times when even puppies can’t make you break a smile, you gotta start up the space ship and make a weird-ass p-funk inspired tune”.

Her collaboration with Watts, whom she describes as “one of my favourite performers”, adds another dimension to her already expansive musical palette.
