jasmine.4.t – Elephant
Manchester-based jasmine.4.t marks a historic moment as the first UK signing to Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records, announcing her debut album “You Are The Morning” alongside the deeply personal single “Elephant”. The album, due January 17th, 2025, represents a unique collaboration with Bridgers and her Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.
Recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles over 12 days, the album’s creation became a celebration of community. The sessions brought together jasmine.4.t’s backing band of trans musicians, her “Manchester dolls” Eden and Phoenix, local LA trans artists Vixen, Bobby, and Addy, and the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, with Julien Baker contributing guitar work.
“Elephant” emerged from a profound transition in Jasmine’s life, building from a simple foundation into something more expansive. “I wrote ‘Elephant’ very early in my transition about my first t4t love”, she explains, describing the complex emotions of wanting more from a friendship while navigating personal upheaval. The song captures a vulnerable moment when, after her life in Bristol unravelled post-coming out, she found temporary refuge on Manchester’s queer community sofas.
The track follows her earlier single “Skin On Skin”, showcasing jasmine.4.t’s gift for crafting universal intimate narratives. Her delicate, gentle vocals create a protective space where vulnerability becomes strength, and personal stories resonate with collective experience.
