Ekko Astral – Pomegranate Tree

Ekko Astral – Pomegranate Tree

Ekko Astral, the DC noise-punk trio, has released “Pomegranate Tree”, a song that carries a weighty message, addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza from the perspective of Jewish Americans grappling with their upbringing and current realities. Drummer Miri Tyler explains the personal significance: “It’s exhaustingly heartbreaking to watch a symbol of your childhood community transform into a symbol for genocide”.

This release marks Ekko Astral’s first as a trio, following recent lineup changes. It continues their trend of using music as a platform for social commentary, following their June release “holocaust remembrance day” and their debut album “pink balloons”.

The accompanying video, directed by lead vocalist Jael Holzman, features journalist Eric Michael Garcia discussing media coverage of the Gaza situation.
