Hayden Thorpe – He

Hayden Thorpe – He

Hayden Thorpe’s upcoming album “Ness” draws inspiration from Orford Ness, a unique coastal area in Suffolk with a rich history. The new single “He” showcases Thorpe’s exploration of orchestral sounds, featuring bold instrumentation including clarinet, sackbut, and spinet.

Author Robert Macfarlane wrote the album’s lyrics, adding literary depth to the music. Thorpe’s approach to “He” was maximalist, embracing a jaunty, all-out style.

The accompanying video, directed by Sam Potter, reflects the natural elements of Orford Ness and its dark history, using high-speed photography techniques inspired by the area’s past as a military testing site.

“Ness” represents a departure from rock instrumentation, with Thorpe focusing on orchestral and choral arrangements. The album is set for release on September 27th via Domino.
