Fontaines D.C. – Starburster

Fontaines D.C. – Starburster

Fontaines D.C., now backed by XL Recordings, gears up for their latest release, ‘Romance,’ slated for August 23. Their fresh single “Starburster” sets the tone with an intriguing video directed by Aube Perrie, featuring lead singer Grian Chatten navigating daily life under a prosthetic guise. This track marks their first collaboration with renowned producer James Ford, known for his work with Arctic Monkeys and Blur. “Starburster” is inspired by Chatten’s personal struggles with a panic attack, framed within the context of the band’s evolving exploration of romance beyond their Irish roots. Guitarist Conor Deegan expands on this shift, noting the band’s journey from a distinctly Irish narrative to a broader, more global artistic vision, influenced by eclectic sounds ranging from Shygirl to The Prodigy. The track reflects a blend of personal crisis and broader existential themes, mirroring the urgency and depth of falling in love amidst apocalyptic dread.
