Minor Conflict – Surveillance Operator
Nobody gets to relax over a motorik beat this steady. Squid’s Ollie Judge plays it on “Surveillance Operator”, and the Bristol band lock in around him so tightly that the whole song feels like it’s checking over its shoulder. It was still a sketch with no words when producer Ali Chant invited Minor Conflict to Real World Studios. In the weeks before the session, Josh and Natalie wrote a lyric about seeing and being seen, with the 2006 film The Lives of Others as the reference point.
First single from third EP Residents, out February 12, 2027 on Fascination Street Records. Play it, then go back and watch the film.
