YAANG – Leech
“This is our dancefloor call, you should make the most of it because we won’t ask twice,” YAANG say, and they mean it. “Leech” has been a live staple since it was written, and the recorded version comes in pulsing and jagged, produced by Al Groves and mastered by Jesse F. Keeler of DFA 1979. The lyric swings between two voices in one head: the sober one, cold and blunt, wishing someone would just leave, and the drunk one that wants its head examined, wants to see itself splashed across something big, takes a kicking and stutters that it’ll all be fine. Then it goes looking for more. The chorus keeps the narrator tied to whatever’s hurting him, and the band repeat it until it turns into a chant.
