The Bug Club – A Good Day for Dying

The Bug Club are a Welsh duo releasing their third album Every Single Muscle on May 29th via Sub Pop. “A Good Day for Dying” is the latest single, and it does exactly what you’d expect from them: short, riff-first, hooks everywhere. The album was produced and mixed by Tom Rees at Rat Trap Studios in Cardiff and mastered by Mikey Young.

If their previous album Very Human Features (2025) pointed at everyday life and noted its absurdity from the outside, Every Single Muscle turns that attention inward. The concept, per the band, is less introspection and more dissection: the human body and condition examined from every angle, the way an alien might prod a specimen. “A Good Day for Dying” fits that frame without needing to explain it. The album is so packed with riffs and hooks that Sam reportedly had to ask permission to fit a guitar solo in. He got two seconds.

What I like about The Bug Club is that the humor and the craft aren’t in competition. The jokes land because the songs are tight, not the other way around. Every Single Muscle looks like 18 tracks of that approach. Tour kicks off May 9th in Wrexham.
