Wings of Desire – Just to Survive
Wings of Desire return with “Just to Survive”, the fourth single in their 2026 new moon project. Chloe Little and James Taylor are releasing one track per lunar cycle throughout the year, culminating in their album Stand Still Like The Hummingbird on December 9. We first covered the project with Whisper (W04) and followed up with This Is The Life (W12), with “Nothing Left to Give” also released in the cycle between those entries.
The track arrives with a statement from the duo that gestures at the questions running through the whole project: the nature of reality, the identity of our saviours and oppressors, the act of questioning itself as a form of resistance. That continuity with what came before โ the post-punk and shoegaze foundations, the conscious-living frame โ is holding across the series. Each new moon instalment has shifted the register slightly: “Whisper” was patient and space-focused, “This Is The Life” pushed harder and wider. “Just to Survive” lands with its own weight, the title doing direct work in a year when that phrase keeps coming up in different contexts.
The project is still on course. Four singles in, the pieces are accumulating toward something, and that sense of an unfolding arc is part of what makes this series worth staying with. I’ve been following this from the first new moon and the picture keeps getting more interesting.
