Noble Rot – Hang On
What started as a side-project has become more serious now that METZ is on hiatus. Noble Rot—the collaboration between METZ’s Alex Edkins and Holy Fuck’s Graham Walsh—returns with “Hang On,” a track that proves these guys weren’t just killing time between main gigs.
The song is a restless, pulsing thing, built on hypnotic rhythms that nod to late-’80s UK indie dance while keeping one foot in darker, more anxious territory. Synths whir and guitars distort just enough to keep things interesting, all while Edkins’ melodies try to find something catchy in the chaos. It’s the sound of a project figuring out what it wants to be—not quite post-punk, not quite electronic, but something that twists both into new shapes.
This is the first new material since their 2023 debut Heavenly Bodies, Repetition, Control, and if “Hang On” is any indication, Noble Rot is settling in for the long haul. They’ve even lined up live dates, which suggests this isn’t just a studio experiment anymore.
