Cubzoa – I Dreamed A Beach

Cubzoa’s “I Dreamed a Beach” feels like falling asleep in a sunbeam and waking up in a storm. Jack Wolter (of Penelope Isles and CMAT) crafts a solo debut that’s part lullaby, part fever dream—acoustic guitar plucks tethering airy vocals to earth while warped strings and saxophones spiral skyward. The track began as a minimalist confession about a hyper-real beach dream, but production gremlins hijacked the vibe, turning it into a lush contradiction. Wolter’s voice glimmers like a mirage, cracked harmonies and recording hiss adding “vintage” charm to his existential tourism. Those improvised cello parts? Recorded face-to-face with pals using one mic—so indie it hurts. For a song about fleeting dreams, it’s wide awake.
