Jacob Alon – Confession
Jacob Alon reveals their second single “Confession”, following September’s debut “Fairy in a Bottle”. The Edinburgh-based artist has already made significant waves, from a memorable television debut on Later… with Jools Holland to a sold-out London headline show and supporting Kae Tempest at KOKO.
Produced by Dan Carey, “Confession” showcases Alon’s songwriting and vocals. The track explores a personal journey with sexuality and identity, drawing inspiration from artists like Nick Drake and Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief. Their music found its voice in Edinburgh’s folk nights and queer scene, where they discovered a supportive community that encouraged their authentic expression.
The song itself emerged from a deeply personal moment – a late-night confession at a party that left them reflecting on past relationships and self-acceptance. “This song, for me, is a shedding of shame”, Alon explains, describing it as “a soft hand tracing the stretch marks left behind by a once messy, awkward, painful, and frightening realisation of my queerness”.
