Joe Goddard – Follow You

Joe Goddard – Follow You

Joe Goddard, renowned for his role in Hot Chip, reveals his latest single, “Follow You,” ahead of his third solo album Harmonics, set for release on July 12th. This upcoming album features 14 tracks that traverse UK garage, house, hip-hop, pop, and disco, demonstrating Goddard’s eclectic musical influences and collaborative approach.

“Follow You” is a solo track that delves into the reflective and introspective aspects of Goddard’s music. Blending uplifting electronics with his soulful, sometimes downbeat vocals, the track creates a harmonious balance of light and shade. A standout feature is the nostalgic counter-melody reminiscent of classic 8-bit video game tunes, adding a unique charm.

Goddard’s creative process for Harmonics emphasizes empathy and collaboration. “With all the different people on this record, I’ve been working on how to respect the contribution they make and not trying to be the one who has to lead everything,” he explains. This ethos extends to his solo songs, where he adopts a stream-of-consciousness writing style.

In addition to the album release, Goddard will embark on a live tour in November, including a show at London’s Colour Factory. This follows a series of summer live performances and DJ sets, including appearances at All Points East and Glastonbury.

“Harmonics” aims to be a celebration of love, empathy, and fun, reflecting Goddard’s desire to create inclusive and harmonious music in a world often marked by division.
