John Grant – All That School For Nothing

John Grant has released “All That School For Nothing,” a lively track from his upcoming album, The Art of The Lie, set for release on June 14 via Bella Union. Originally written for Blondie, Grant reclaimed the song after it evolved from an electronic piece to a groove reminiscent of Cameo and Whodini. The transformation came as Grant realized his vocals gave the track a new, funky dimension.

Produced by Ivor Guest, known for his work with Grace Jones and Brigitte Fontaine, the album promises a rich tapestry of sounds. Grant and Guest first crossed paths at a Grace Jones show during last year’s Meltdown festival, sparking a collaboration that has now brought forth an eleven-track masterpiece. The album also features previously released singles “It’s A Bitch” and “The Child Catcher.”

“All That School For Nothing” showcases Grant’s eclectic influences and knack for storytelling through music. The accompanying music video, directed with a vibrant, retro aesthetic, complements the song’s energetic vibe.

To promote the album, Grant will be making three in-store appearances across the UK, offering stripped-back performances and Q&A sessions with Ivor Guest. This is a chance to delve deeper into the creative process behind The Art of The Lie.
