The Twilite Tone – I Still Need Love Too
The Twilite Tone’s “I Still Need Love Too” marks the return of YNOT Dusable alongside singer Dejah Gomez on the B-side of his limited edition 7″ single. While the A-side features Common and Madison McFerrin on “I Still Need Love 2”, this track brings back Tone’s longtime collaborator YNOT (who appeared as Master Ynot on Common’s Resurrection in 1994) for something special.
The single arrives through Closed Sessions with only 300 vinyl copies pressed, including a red variant numbered 1-100. Pressed in Chicago by Smashed Plastic and playing at 45 RPM, it’s a limited physical release shipping December 18th that captures Tone’s commitment to Chicago’s musical foundation.
Tone’s approach here reflects his “trans-genre” style that fuses soul, funk, hip-hop, punk, new wave, jazz, and house. His résumé includes production work with Kanye West, Pusha T, John Legend, Big Sean, G Herbo, and co-production on all 19 tracks from Gorillaz’s 2017 album Humanz. His 2020 solo debut The Clearing on Stones Throw established his range beyond traditional production roles.
The pairing of YNOT Dusable and Dejah Gomez on “I Still Need Love Too” continues Tone’s focus on authentic collaboration over algorithmic trends. As he puts it: “I’m emotional about it because I really mean it. This is love and oneness.”
