Fabiana Palladino – Drunk
Fabiana Palladino returns with “Drunk”, a brooding exploration of modern dating recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios. Following her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album released in April, the multi-instrumentalist continues to showcase her sophisticated blend of songwriting and production.
The track, featuring an impressive lineup including her father – legendary bassist Pino Palladino – alongside Ellis Dupuy (drums) and Joe Newman (guitar), captures the raw energy of live performance through analog mixing by GRAMMY winner Russell Elevado (known for his work on D’Angelo’s ‘Voodoo’). This organic approach creates a silky-smooth twilight torch song that pivots between romantic infatuation and detachment.
“Drunk” was written with the chaos of modern dating as my backdrop, Fabiana explains, “trying to navigate the apps, the blurred line between casual and serious, experiencing the evolving terminology in real life — situationships, love bombing, ghosting, breadcrumbing.” She questions whether these are truly new behaviours or just new terms for age-old patterns while admitting, “I’m leaning into the uncertainty and the drama, trying to find some kind of art and meaning in it. ‘Cause it’s no fun on your own, and peace is boring”.
With “Drunk”, she continues demonstrating why she’s emerged as one of London’s most compelling new voices.
