Sondre Lerche – September Something

Sondre Lerche – September Something

Sondre Lerche revisits his past with “September Something”, a track originally intended for his 2004 album “Two Way Monologue”. The song, written over two decades ago, remained unfinished until now. Lerche describes it as once feeling like the album’s centerpiece, but struggles during recording led to its exclusion.

Recently, Lerche reworked the track, collaborating with former guitarist Kato Ådland to finalize the arrangement using elements from the 2002 sessions. Lerche rewrote lyrics to better express his original intentions, blending his 2002 vocals with new recordings.

The process allowed Lerche to reconcile with his younger self’s creative vision, giving new life to a song that had remained dormant for years. Interestingly, part of the outro later found its way into the “Dan In Real Life” film score.

“September Something” is now included in the 20th anniversary reissue of “Two Way Monologue”.
