Stuck – Sicko

Chicago three-piece Stuck — Greg Obis (guitar/vocals), David Algrim (bass) and Tim Green (drums) — are gearing up to release their new album Optimizer on March 27 via Exploding In Sound. “Sicko” is the third preview, following “Instakill” and “Deadlift”.

It’s a short post-punk track that moves fast and hooks hard. The central lyric — “Don’t you wish you were someone else / Don’t you ever get sick of yourself?” — lands with the kind of blunt directness that makes the genre work when it’s done right. I like that it doesn’t dress the question up. It just asks it, then gets back to the riff.

If Optimizer keeps this up across a full record, March 27 will be a good day.
