Paris Paloma – Good Girl

Paris Paloma releases “Good Girl,” tackling patriarchal beauty standards, diet culture, and the pressure women face around their bodies. Directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Georgie Cowan-Turner and starring Richard Armitage, the track follows 2025’s “Good Boy” (featuring Dame Emma Thompson).

The song opens with the idea that self-care is resistance before confronting the exhaustion of being infantilized and controlled. Paloma walks through imagery of childhood innocence contrasted with society’s constant surveillance and judgment. She rejects the mandate that women must have a passionate love affair with their bodies, instead allowing for neutrality and complexity in that relationship.

The track addresses the internal struggle of trying to reconcile who you are with who you’re told to be, describing it as wading through confusion while balancing the scaffolding of skin. Paloma presents a choice between conforming to beauty standards through surgical intervention or aging naturally like a tree weathering time. She chooses the latter.

“I have been trying for some years now to extricate my relationship with my body from the smug power of patriarchal beauty standards,” Paloma explains. “The belief runs so deep it feels almost biblical: that to be skinny is to be loved, to look young is to be happy, to be shaved is to be sexy. ‘Good Girl’ articulates that kicking and screaming—the refusal of the idea that my body is for consumption or ornamentation.”

Released via Nettwerk, the track continues from her 2024 debut “Cacophony” (over 1 billion streams). Paloma joins Florence + The Machine for a UK/EU arena tour starting February 6. Her breakout single “labour” became a soundtrack to reproductive rights campaigns, support for Gisele Pelicot, and the “Run Like A Girl” movement, earning Gold certification and 11 billion social media views.
