Eaves Wilder – Hurricane Girl
North London artist Eaves Wilder has shared “Hurricane Girl,” the lead single from her debut album Little Miss Sunshine, arriving April 17 via Secretly Canadian. The track layers gauzy shoegaze harmonies over rock guitars and live drums, with Wilder’s intimate vocals slicing through the fuzz. She describes it as her “go at cock rock,” inspired by Pearl Jam, Jane’s Addiction, Soundgarden, and Aerosmith—music she calls “mountain music” with “elemental scale.”
The album comes after Wilder nearly walked away from music completely. Following her 2023 EP Hookey, she stepped back so hard she even Googled nunneries. Working alone in her studio, she refocused on making “worlds”—music that felt tectonic rather than small.
“Hurricane Girl” started as a song about destructive people but shifted into self-reflection. Wilder connects the album title to how women’s mood swings get treated differently than men’s: “Male songwriters who are subject to extreme mood swings—that somehow becomes part of what makes them a genius. So I think it’s important, if you’re a woman, to be upfront about your mood swings.”
