Ebbb – Book That You Like
London trio Ebbb closes out 2025 with “Book That You Like”, their third and final single of the year on Ninja Tune. The track showcases a softer side to the band, built on celestial synths, layered vocals, and classically edged guitars over an insistent beat.
Vocalist Will Rowland explains the concept: “This song explores the tension between introspection as art and introspection as harm. It’s about the way we sometimes glorify art that depicts breakdown and despair, and how immersing ourselves in that narrative can exacerbate our own cycles of rumination. Sometimes consuming material that reflects our darkness can become a feedback loop.”
It’s a pointed observation about how we consume art that mirrors our worst states. Rowland’s vocals float over the production while the rhythm pushes forward, creating tension between the dreamy surface and the urgent subject.
Ebbb consists of Rowland on vocals, producer Lev Ceylan (who also directed the visualizer), and drummer Scott MacDonald. They’ve had a strong year, selling out London’s Brixton Windmill, supporting Shame across Europe, and playing festivals including Mutations and Reeperbahn. The Smile invited them to open shows in Switzerland, and they’ve shared stages with Scaler and PVA.
The single follows “Manners” (which got BBC 6 Music support) and “Eyes” from earlier this year, all building on their critically acclaimed debut EP “All At Once” from 2024. They’re currently opening for The Orchestra (For Now) on a UK run that started at Sheffield’s Hallamshire Hotel.
