Benny Sings – Castle
Benny Sings returns with “Castle” just two months after releasing “Beat Tape III” in September 2025. It’s precisely what you’d expect from him: warm, melancholic, and effortlessly smooth. The Dutch artist’s lo-fi pop sound is intact, built on jazzy chords and subtle grooves with his signature laid-back vocals threading through it all.
The lyrics tell the story of building something from the ground up, literally and metaphorically. The song moves through numbered parts like a construction timeline, starting with the break and paperwork, then tearing everything down before rebuilding. By Part 378, exhaustion sets in. “So tired of the work and the waiting,” he sings, with spoken dialogue cutting in: “I mean, come on, it’s almost been two years now and we’re still swimming in dirt.”
But the song doesn’t stay stuck in frustration. It pushes forward through raising glasses, checking out the garden, sitting down together, throwing a party. By Part 3108, they’ve made it. “We live our life on the Durnham,” followed by another spoken moment: “I really think we can say we made it now. We made it, honey!” The chorus repeats throughout, welcoming listeners to “our castle, our heart,” turning the whole ordeal into something worth celebrating.
Benny directed the video himself, with DOP Zeeger Verschuren and photographer Oof Verschuren capturing the track’s dreamy, unhurried vibe. It feels like a walk through his musical world, where comfort and melancholy coexist without conflict.
“Castle” arrives ahead of his intimate European tour this fall, which includes four nights at Paradiso in Amsterdam on November 21 and 22 (both shows are sold out). He’ll be playing songs from his upcoming tenth album, due in 2026. Following “Beat Tape III” from September, Benny Sings proves he still runs his own smoothly irresistible kingdom.
