Norah Jane & MOR.LOV – A Minute
Amsterdam-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Norah Jane teams up with producer MOR.LOV for “A Minute”, a reflective single that sets the tone for their five-track EP of the same name. The track carries an understated intensity, brought to life visually by director Kate Hummel’s video, which mirrors the song’s contemplative mood without overstating it.
“A Minute” showcases the chemistry between Norah Jane’s vocal delivery and MOR.LOV’s production approach. There’s space in the arrangement, letting the emotion breathe rather than crowding it with unnecessary layers. It’s the kind of restraint that comes from two artists who trust each other’s instincts.
The entire EP builds upon this foundation, shifting between hazy romance and dub-inflected soul. “Godspeed” features SB ARRA from Amsterdam collective Benkel, written in an off-the-cuff session that captures the ease of making music with friends. “Come Around” brings in vocalist Razeen, who Norah first met working at a vintage shop. Their friendship grew naturally into studio work, with Razeen becoming a regular collaborator alongside MOR.LOV.
“N1 Dub” emerged from a playful promise – Norah would get food if Groove God Jaïr Darnoud and MOR.LOV made a dub beat. They did, the working title stuck, and the result is one of the EP’s most spontaneous moments. Jaïr’s guitar solo was captured in one take while the track looped in the background. “Jaïr’s notorious for secretly recording your jams,” MOR.LOV says. “Blessed he did so.”
Closer “Is It” unfolds over spacious production, an intimate snapshot born entirely in flow. “It’s probably my favourite track I’ve produced,” MOR.LOV recalls. “I was at Norah’s place, completely in the zone. She’d gone to make food, and I was jamming on the keys until the chords came through. When she came back and got excited, I knew we had something.” The track showcases Norah’s keen ear for dynamics, her vocals gliding over layered drums and warm keys with effortless ease.
