Soulwax – Gimme A Reason
Soulwax doesn’t do anything halfway. The Belgian brothers David and Stephen Dewaele have spent 30 years building their electronic empire, which includes the band, DJ duo 2ManyDJs, and DEEWEE label. Their new double single showcases why that foundation matters.
“Gimme A Reason” runs over six minutes of spacious electronics. Piano sits under soft vocals that plead the title phrase, while modular synths and live drums create a texture that feels both studio-crafted and performance-ready. The track builds slowly, then breaks into a glitchy finale that transforms funk into something more complicated.
“Meanwhile On The Continent” takes a different route. Opening with marching band-style percussion, it layers electronic accents and processed vocals over relentless tom work. The rhythm never stops shifting, keeping you guessing while maintaining its hypnotic pull.
Both tracks come from “All Systems Are Lying,” due October 17. The album showcases their three-drummer live setup, featuring modular synths, tape machines, and meticulous production. It’s electronic music that breathes like a live band—no small feat in 2025.
