Annie-Claude Deschênes – Main de Fer (Shit Robot Remix)
Annie-Claude Deschênes hands her April single “Main de Fer” to Shit Robot (Marcus Lambkin) for the first of three planned remixes. The DFA Records-affiliated producer transforms the original into something built for after-midnight club moments, pulling from industrial, dark disco, cold wave, and post-punk.
Shit Robot brings analog hardware to the remix – 90s synthesizers and sequencers that give the track a different texture than typical digital reworks. He also mixed the final result alongside LCD Soundsystem member and Grammy winner Korey Richey, which adds production polish without losing the underground club feel.
Deschênes, formerly of Duchess Says, chose Shit Robot specifically for his approach to reimagining tracks. According to Lambkin, everything fell into place quickly once he fired up the machines. The original vocals and infectious energy made his job easier.
The remix arrives as Deschênes prepares for extensive touring. She’ll hit Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and POP Montreal before a European run in October covering Brussels, Strasbourg, Lyon, Luxembourg, and Paris. Several dates feature her opening for Camilla Sparksss and Bolis Pupul.
Canadian dates follow in Toronto and Quebec, plus M for Montreal’s official selection in November. Two more “Main de Fer” remixes are still coming.
