Cusp – Follow Along
Chicago five-piece Cusp delivers “Follow Along” from their upcoming album “What I Want Doesn’t Want Me Back”, due October 17 on Exploding In Sound Records. The track showcases the band’s layered approach – dual guitars from Gaelen Bates and Jen Bender, with Bender handling lead vocals throughout the album.
The production comes from Scoops Dardaris at Chicago’s Electrical Audio and Ohmstead Recording, recorded in January 2025.
“Follow Along” sits comfortably in the indie rock territory that Exploding In Sound knows well. The band writes collectively, and it shows no ego battles or forced moments. Bender’s vocals carry the melodic weight, while the rhythm section provides a solid foundation.
Cusp seems comfortable working within established indie rock frameworks rather than trying to reinvent them, and that’s precisely what works for them.
