Cubzoa – Choke

Sharing half of Penelope Isles is Jack Wolter, who, for the first time, surfaces from behind the band with his debut solo album as Cubzoa, Unfold In The Sky. Lead single ‘Choke’ is a sun-dappled dream-pop confession, retro synths and shimmering guitars obscuring its fragility. It’s also the lead single from his forthcoming debut album Unfold In The Sky, due October 24 via Bella Union.

According to Wolter, the album represents ‘unfolding’ – personal and creative insecurities ripped apart. Cubzoa offered a little escape from the collaborative dynamics of Penelope Isles, allowing him to take pleasure in solo artistry. The result? A bedroom pop universe stretched widescreen, equal parts introspection and kaleidoscopic hooks.
