Getdown Services – Eat Quiche, Sleep, Repeat

Bristol duo Getdown Services return with the delightfully titled “Eat Quiche, Sleep, Repeat,” the first single from their upcoming EP “Primordial Slot Machine” (due June 6th via Breakfast Records). Childhood friends Josh Law and Ben Sadler craft a surprisingly philosophical tune beneath the quirky name, tackling the acceptance of life’s persistent difficulties rather than chasing an elusive perfect happiness.

“This song is about accepting there’s a chance our bitterness won’t ever fully go away,” the band explains, suggesting we’re better off managing our complexities than trying to eliminate them. Their refreshing take? “Maybe we’ll be fine as we are: Happy a lot of the time but always at least Semi-Miserable.”

This balance of humour and honest introspection continues themes from their 2024 EP “Your Medal’s In The Post,” delivered through their signature observations of modern British life. The track arrives amid growing momentum for the band, who’ve announced their biggest headline show to date at London’s Islington Assembly Hall (November 10th) and slots at Glastonbury and several other major festivals.
