Revival Season – 8’3
Revival Season returns with “8’3,” a track that wastes zero time on subtlety and even less on restraint. Built like a smoke-belching machine that just stumbled out of a garage and onto a beat, it’s the first taste of their upcoming mixtape Formless (out May 16 via Heavenly Recordings).
The duo, made up of rapper Bez Evans and guitarist-producer Jonah Swilley, lean hard into their sweet spot: the chaotic middle where primal rock and heavy-lidded hip-hop overlap. “8’3” rides in on a greasy guitar riff that sounds less “recorded” and more like it escaped. It’s loud, it’s loose, and it drags a rhythm track behind it that sounds like it took a few wrong turns on the way to the studio—and decided to keep going.
The track doesn’t nod to influence; it snarls at it, then does its own thing anyway. This isn’t retro. This isn’t clean. It’s all impulse, filtered through fuzz, reverb, and mischief.
