Sufjan Stevens – Mystery Of Love (Demo)
Sufjan Stevens has unveiled “Mystery of Love (Demo)” as part of the upcoming 10th anniversary reissue of his critically acclaimed 2015 album “Carrie & Lowell.” The demo version offers an intimate view into the song’s origins, featuring solo guitar and voice with slightly altered lyrics from the version that later gained widespread recognition in Luca Guadagnino’s Oscar-winning film “Call Me By Your Name.”
This release marks a significant milestone for an album that has become one of the most beloved indie folk records of the past decade. Even Billie Eilish recently proclaimed it her “best album to cry to.” Set for release on May 30th via Asthmatic Kitty Records, the deluxe anniversary edition transforms the original album into an expanded double-LP.
The reissue preserves the original eleven-track album on the first disc, while the second disc contains forty minutes of previously unreleased material. Along with the “Mystery of Love” demo, listeners will discover demo versions of album highlights “Death with Dignity,” “Should Have Known Better,” “The Only Thing,” and “Eugene,” plus more cinematic alternate takes of “Fourth of July” and “Wallowa Lake Monster.”
