49th & Main – Distractions

Genre-blending Irish duo 49th & Main begin a fresh chapter with their new single ‘Distractions.’ The pair has built a reputation for skillfully merging sharp electronic elements, UKG rhythms, and jazz-infused house with emotionally resonant indie and pop songwriting approaches.

‘Distractions’ eloquently captures both the excitement of new experiences and the inevitable longing for home – a thematic duality that strongly connects with their expanding audience. The track has evolved significantly from its initial concept, developing into something more introspective with enhanced emotional depth. It effectively portrays life’s contrasting forces, where adventure and nostalgia intersect, all while anchoring genuine emotion within a delicate groove.

Interestingly, the song’s creation was entirely unplanned. As the artists explain: “Actually, the song was written by accident. I was asked to make music for an electronics company, but I honestly can’t remember which one (probably Tamagotchi or maybe NASA). We sat in the bedroom and in about two hours we had the bulk of this track made up. It was very easy. Our best songs always are.”
