The Cure - A Fragile Thing

The Cure – A Fragile Thing

The Cure, those eternal teenagers of goth rock, are back with “A Fragile Thing”, a preview of their upcoming album “Songs of a Lost World”. The world wasn’t quite gloomy enough already.

Robert Smith, still rocking that bedhead and smudged lipstick look, calls it the album’s “love song”. But don’t expect roses and chocolates – this is The Cure. Smith wrestled with the song’s creation, originally titled “Kill the Sun”. How very… sunny of him.

“A Fragile Thing” starts with a brooding instrumental intro (shocking, we know) before Smith’s distinctive whine kicks in: “Every time you kiss me/ I could cry she said”. Ah, nothing says romance like the threat of tears.

Still, irony apart, it is a beautiful song.
