BIG SPECIAL & JOHN GRANT – STAY DOWN, LAZARUS

Big Special teams up with John Grant for their latest single, “STAY DOWN, LAZARUS”. The track combines a powerful chorus with a heavy trip-hop beat and thoughtful lyrics from Joe Hicklin.

Hicklin explains, “It’s about the social promise of elevation that doesn’t really exist for most people”. It was written initially as Big Special’s first song but didn’t make their debut album. They felt it needed something extra and reached out to John Grant, a significant influence, to contribute.

The result is a potent blend of Big Special’s atmospheric sound and Grant’s distinctive voice. It’s a frank look at being told to stay in your lane, wrapped in dark, brooding music.

Grant shared his enthusiasm: “Was very psyched that Big Special asked me along for the ride on this track. Had a blast doing this!”
