tindersticks – Always a stranger

Tindersticks are gearing up to release their 14th studio album, “Soft Tissue”, on September 13 via City Slang. Their latest single, “Always a Stranger”, comes with a music video directed by frontman Stuart Staples and shot by guitarist Neil Fraser.

Staples describes “Always a Stranger” as a mysterious song that, unlike some of the album’s other tracks, he doesn’t fully understand. This element of mystery adds an intriguing layer to the band’s songwriting process.

“Soft Tissue” seems to explore themes of confusion, responsibility, and the state of the world. Staples mentions that the album’s songs inhabit a space of “despairing at the destruction, suspecting you are responsible”.
