Trace Mountains – In A Dream

Trace Mountains, the project of Dave Benton from LVL UP, has just dropped a new single called “In A Dream”, it’s the opener for his upcoming album “Into the Burning Blue”.

Benton wrote the song after an 8-year relationship ended, and you can feel that emotional urgency to go deep just in the music. He’s exploring new sounds too, playing with drum machines and drawing inspiration from 80s music. The result is this blend of indie rock and more polished, hi-fi production.

“In A Dream” is a long one – seven minutes of Benton taking us on a nighttime ride through suburban America. He’s looking at the world around him, but also looking inward. It’s like he’s trying to make sense of his place in this capitalist society while also dealing with his own personal stuff.
